Steps to Becoming a Texas Rising Star Provider
If you are a CCA provider
- Request a Texas Rising Star (TRS) application packet from Provider Services by calling 214-905-3579. The packet contains an application, a copy of the criteria, and an assessment tool. Or, you may download and print the application and appropriate criteria and assessment tool by clicking on the form below:
- Read and complete both sides of the application and send it to CCA along with copies of required documents listed on the application (fire, health, and gas leak inspections; orientation plan; and parent policies) as required for your type of facility.
- Attend a TRS orientation by calling 214-905-3595. Orientations are held monthly at the CCA office.
- Schedule a "pre-assessment" visit with CCA staff to identify areas needing improvements.
- Make a plan with the specialist to be sure you are ready for the assessment.
- The assessment visit will be scheduled once you are confident your program is ready.
- The assessment visit for centers will take all day (large programs may require an additional day) and will consist of observing each classroom, mealtime, and outdoor play area(s), as well as reviewing staff and licensing records.
- The assessment visit for Registered and Licensed Child Care Homes will be shorter, as there are only one to two groups to observe.
- After the assessment visit, the specialist will score the assessment tool. The scores for each area and classroom will determine the level of certification.
- Results of the assessment will be shared with you by the specialist. Recommendations may be made or a plan will be developed to continue to make steps towards meeting all of the criteria.
